Dorma offers a patent pending & restricted keyway called Dorma SKC (Serial Key Control). Dorma SKC is a 7-pin key system featuring key blanks that are permanently engraved with a unique serial number at the time of manufacture.  The keyauthorization.com website tracks each key blank from manufacturing through distribution to cut key ready for issuing to authorized users. To further enhance owner security, no site-specific keying information is retained on this system.

Patented and Restricted Keys

The primary purpose of patented high security locks is the prevention of unauthorized key duplication. Contracts, factory marked blanks, limited distribution, key record controls, and strong utility patents are essential to state-of-the-art key control.

Fabrication of a patented key blank by anyone other than the owner is an infringement of the utility patent. These companies will bring legal action against any person or persons producing or contributing to the production of unauthorized cores or key blanks.
